Why my first 1,000 Facebook fan page likes were the easiest?
I remember thinking before starting my Facebook fan page that getting my first 1,000 page likes were going to be the hardest. I had been told this by so many people and I remember reading it so many times. Well achieving that number has actually turned out to be the easiest 1,000 that I’ve obtained so far.
Ok to be honest – it wasn’t the first 1,000 page likes. It was more like the first 1,300 after I already had 200 page likes. Getting to 200 page likes, for me, was the hardest. I actually have a lot of Facebook friends on my personal account and so I thought they would be making up the majority of likes until I got passed 1,000. Well, thousands of likes later and I’ve only got 145 of them from friends on my personal account.

Building the Facebook Fan Page?
Look!

Now then, how’d I do it?
Before going further, I should note:
there’s a difference between paying for an advert which will be targeted at only getting Facebook fan page likes and actually using one of your posts as a means for people to share, interact with and in turn like your page
Step 1 – Create
Create a post which has value. Something in which you think people are to going to be able to enjoy, that they’re going to want to share and that they’re going to want to tag their friends in.
Step 2 – Post it!
Just post it like normal and I’ll explain the rest in step 3.
Step 3 – Tactics
This is where the fun part comes into it. You’re now going to have to boost this post. I want you to select an audience that you think will appreciate this post, but at the same time will also appreciate what your Facebook page is about.
For example – Lets imagine that I was a wandering merchant. I make and sell bracelets and my dream is to make a living by selling them online (and also by selling them to the people I come across on my travels)
Now to sell online I might have an online store with Shopify and I might also accept orders straight from my Facebook page. Whichever way, my Facebook business page is going to be key in all this happening. It’ll be a means of people being able to hear about me, learn about me and also to see my products. In order to build my following, besides considering those that will be interested in my product (my niche), I need to also consider those who potentially COULD be interested in it … or perhaps even their friends.
How?
Create content that is of value to my potential customers. Sure I could create adverts with my bracelets, and target people interested in that type of jewellery, OR, I could target these posts to people that may be interested by the content of the actual post.
What do I mean? – For example instead of just posting photos of these bracelets, maybe I’ll take a photo of them and have a particular monument in the background. I’ll then boost this post to people who are interested in this monument. That way I’m going to be building a following of people who are semi-interested in what I’m doing. And maybe they won’t be interested in my bracelets, but if this person comments or shares my photo, and then one of their friends are interested in it, BOOM! I have a potential customer.
And there it is! Now that you know my strategy for getting my first 1,000 … actually 2,000 and almost 3,000 page likes (in just 5 weeks) you should be right to go!
Please be sure to ask me if you have any questions and also feel free to share this content amongst those who you think could benefit from it.
ONE LAST NOTE –
Power in numbers – business creates business but you need to be sure that your audience is ENGAGING with your posts or otherwise you’ll just have lots of page likes and no action within your Facebook fan page.
And if you need proof here’s a post I created within my third week of having my Facebook travel page – whilst adopting the same strategies I listed above, this is how I generated 1,000 + Facebook page likes within a week
